Canada + iPhone = March 14th

I was reading Chris Thompson’s site and came across this article that makes a bold prediction:
March 14 2008 = iDay Canada.
That’s right. For a full list of reasons, check out the original article here. But in the interim, here’s brief summary:
- A couple of web hacks on the Apple Canada site reveal a new iPhone page going up
- The Apple Ireland site has the same page going up on March 14th, but they have confirmed that they are launching the iPhone on that day
- It’s a Friday. I’m sure by now we all know Apple likes to launch iPhones in various countries on Fridays

That’s great and all. I’m an Apple guy, from the original Mac through to my current MacBook Pro + iPod Touch.
But, the only thing that will matter to me, and I suspect many other Canadians, is the data plan cost. We currently have the worst plans in the world, can Apple’s power change that and make it a flat fee?
I sure hope so.
I don’t think that there’s going to be an unlimited data plan from Rogers, although I think Fido has one that still exists from it’s Sidekick days.
I have a feeling it’ll probably be the standard $15 for unlimited web surfing and another $15 for unlimited email/IM.
I know too much about cell phones.
