Value Of A True Story

I’m not sure if it’s the season, but I’ve seen a lot of good ads lately that evoke a lot of emotion.  Like these:

Tropicana’s Artic Sun

Tim Hortons’ Welcome Home

So often in advertising, people think that being funny is the way to build your brand. But there are other emotions besides entertainment and humour.

Joy.
Happiness.
Fear.
Love.
Discovery.
Surprise

And all it takes to bring out these emotions is a good story. And the best story is a true story.

Mom loves the first one, as do I. The soundtrack is by a Montreal dude as well.

Paul cries like a baby every single time he sees the Timmy Hos commercial, he says the acting is “just so genuine”

I’m privy to the first one cause of all the people are so freakin cute. And I love their coats. And its a really beautiful seeting.

I don’t think that it’s an “either/or” thing. They’re both good and they both go for creating emotion from a true story and associating their brand with it.

And they’re definitely both good enough to create talk value.
