Awesome video sponsored by LEGO. I love how they’ve grown from a purveyor of kids toys and building blocks to become ambassadors for creativity and inspiration.

Love it.
Love the glasses.
Love the shark repellent.
Love the peanut butter pasta.
Love the rocket shoes. I’m reposting this on the Fatch.
It’s a little ironic that Lego sets have changed so much over the years. They used to come in very basic shapes that allowed/forced you to be creative when building something. Then there was the addition of wheels and then ‘space’ Lego. Even then pieces were relatively simple.
Now when you walk down the Lego aisle at a toy store you see movie themed sets with so many specialized pieces meant to recreate some aspect of Harry Potter, Star Wars or Indiana Jones…
Don’t get me wrong, I still think Lego is awesome, but I’m not sure it’s the same creative toy it used to be.
Tien,
I think that there are different levels. Most of their sales probably come from licensed properties that are easy to build and recognizable from movies.
That’s the shit that kids dig. But I think that there is still a niche market that appreciates the hard-to-build stuff. But I agree, Lego has become a lot more destination oriented in their marketing and products. It’s more “here is how to build this” instead of “what can you build with this?”
But I think it still provides you with the building blocks to create whatever you want.
